I’m Mike Sauter.

I focus on solutions that are useful, practical, and built to make a difference.

Assistive Technology and Alternate Media Specialist with more than 25 years of experience supporting students with disabilities in higher education.

My work has focused on helping students gain access to course materials, technology, and learning environments in ways that are practical, individualized, and effective. Over the years, that has included alternate media production, assistive technology support, accessibility training, and collaboration with faculty and staff to remove barriers and improve access.

I currently work at Saddleback College in Disability Support Programs and Services, where I support students with a wide range of disabilities and help connect them with tools, strategies, and solutions that make learning more accessible. My professional work has also expanded into training, conference presentations, and projects that explore the growing role of AI, accessibility, and innovation in education.

In addition to my work on campus, I have been actively involved with CAPED, where I have spent years supporting assistive technology professionals through leadership, professional development, and collaboration. I have also presented at conferences and workshops focused on accessibility, assistive technology, AI, and practical solutions for higher education.

What drives my work is the belief that accessibility should be practical, meaningful, and built into the way we support students and learning. I am especially interested in projects that connect technology with real-world needs, whether that means building tools, sharing ideas, leading training, or helping others think through new solutions.

AltMediaProduction brings together those parts of my work: accessibility, assistive technology, AI, training, and project development, all grounded in direct experience and a commitment to inclusive access.
